The Fund for Southern Communities is composed of a membership of concerned individuals whose commitment of time, money, and expertise has contributed to the Fund's development. These members have agreed that the Fund will:

  1. support projects working for an equitable distribution of economic and political power
  2. support projects that are unlikely to be funded by traditional funding sources.
  3. support projects in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.
  4. support direct services only when tied to social change programs or when likely to empower the communities served.
  5. make grants not exceeding $5,000. (Most grants will range from $1,000 to $5,000, with an approximate average grant size of $3,000.)

In addition to the General Fund, grants are awarded from several field of interest affiliate and donor advised funds. There is no separate application procedure for any of these funds. Submitting the NNG Common Grant Application form will enable groups to receive funding from any of the funds for which they may be eligible.
