Georgia Innocence Project- Atlanta , GA 5,000.00 To free the wrongly accused through DNA testing, to advance practices that minimize the chances of repeat cases and to educate the public that wrongful convictions are not rate events.
Georgia Stand Up- Atlanta , GA 5,000.00 To promote economic justice, worker rights and sustainable development strategies through cutting-edge investigative research, policy education and grassroots advocacy.
N.C Poultry Growers Association- Cameron , NC 3,500.00 To improve the lives and well being of North Carolina contract poultry farmers by advocating for fair contracts and just treatments as well as explore opportunities for benefits that help improve the farmers bottom line.

Safe Schools NC- Chapel Hill , NC 4,500.00 To organize LGBTQ youth and fight harassment in schools and community institutions.
SE Regional Chapter of TDU- Woodstock, GA 3,000.00 To give Teamster members in Georgia and the Carolinas the tools needed to fight for justice on the job and for democracy in their local unions through leadership development, education and organizing programs and legal actions.
S.C. Equality Foundation- Columbia , SC 2,500.00 To secure civil and human rights for LGBTQ South Carolinians . SPRING 2005 GRANTS
Common Sense Foundation- Raleigh , NC $2490 Project support to assist in implementing an annual one-day seminar on legislative and media strategies designed especially for grassroots leaders and concerned citizens. The Common Sense Foundation is a NC non partisan public policy organization.
Economic Justice Coalition- Athens , GA $4000 General support for community education program, advancing fundraising capabilities, and increasing efficiency of office management and record keeping. Economic Justice Coalition advocates for living wages, health benefits, fair working conditions, and the rights of workers to organize and participate in government decision making.
Georgia Tribe of Eastern Cherokee- Dahlonega , GA $5000 General support to efficiently operate the office, to support Tribal members as well as mission to respond to the BIA pertaining to Federal recognition project. Goals include publishing of newsletters, improve maintenance of Tribal records, and to make necessary travel to support efforts.
Grassroots Empowerment Alliance of Rome- Rome , GA $4000 Partial general, partial project support to support an economic empowerment initiative in South Rome , which will seek to increase residents' access to employment services and resources, create self-help initiatives and home based businesses, and gain employment.
Health Students Taking Action Together- Atlanta , GA $3500 General support for operating expenses for July 05-June 06 to help expand HealthSTAT's leadership development through the Summer Internship program. HealthSTAT creates a statewide community of health professional students and engages them in education, activism and service.
Housing for New Hope Alumni- Durham , NC $1800 Start up costs for project that allows alumni of organization to help themselves and reach out to those who are homeless and those seeking recovery. Project geared towards building a strong base for organization to be more active in the community, to legalize status and to raise money to support outreach.
In The Life- Atlanta , GA $2000 General support to assist with expansion of program offerings for 2005, to provide training for board and staff and to cover basic operating expenses. ITLA serves the needs of LGBT people of African decent. Through education, advocacy and coalition building programs, ITLA fosters unity, pride, empowerment and positive visibility resulting in a strong community voice.
NC Latino Coalition- Durham , NC $3500 General support in order to continue putting together the building blocks if a participatory statewide coalition of grassroots Latino organizations that can give a voice and an organizing outlet to grassroots Latinos.
Occaneechi Band of Saponi Nation - Mebane , NC $2500 General support to enable Tribe to continue to prepare the tribal property in order to effectively utilize the property for its economic development project. The organizations council works to improve the economic, social, educational and cultural well being of tribal members.
People of Hope- Athens , GA $2000 General support for project that provides a resident controlled and secure mobile home neighborhood for 40 multicultural families. Park will have a community center to facilitate the continuation of leadership, credit counseling, computer and language classes. This park will help to improve our economic situation and will continue to provide a different affordable housing solution for generations to come. SURGE- Chapel Hill , NC $3500 Project support for NC Progressive Documentary Project, a Progressive Music Tour and a Bike Tour along with other outreach projects including, summits, trainings and conferences. SURGE is a student led, non violent network working to achieve political, social, economic and environmental justice through collective education and action.
West End Revitalization Association- Mebane , NC $3500 General support to foster the design and implementation of two national community-based grassroots models: “Collaborative Problem-Solving Project” and “Leadership and Enhanced Assistance Program”. WERA improves the quality of life of low income minority homeowners and residents who are denied basic amenities by providing grassroots leadership training, economic, social, legislative and legal action and empowering residents to address discrimination issues.
Within Reach - Greenville , SC $3000 Project support for project designed to build upon a recent increase in community development by youth, by engaging their parents/caregivers to not only support the youth, but also to participate themselves in community development.

SOUTHERN FUNDERS COLLABORATIVE
Thanks to the extension of the Ford Foundation grant to the Southern Funders Collaborative (Appalachian Community Fund, The Fund for Southern Communities and The Southern Partners Fund), ten organizations were awarded its fourth year of capacity building grants. Ten organizations received grants ranging from $15,000 to $25,000.
