35 Years of Social Justice Grant-Making

We Need Your Help Today!

Every day we make decisions that can and often do affect the lives of others. When you decided to support the Fund for Southern Communities (FSC/the Fund), you made a conscience decision to affect change and social justice, and thus help to improve the lives of communities that need you the most.  We want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued and loyal support of the Fund for Southern Communities.  You have made a significant impact on the struggle for social justice and human rights in your own backyard.

More than 35 years ago, the Fund made its first grant awards in an effort to give a voice to grassroots groups working to solve deeply rooted problems. Today, we find great hope and encouragement in the remarkable victories for social change and economic justice that our grantees have won.  Each victory made possible because of the generosity of donors like you.  Your dollars have directly supported organizations such as the The Peoples’ Alliance Fund, working on the Durham Living Wage Project in an effort to combat the growing income inequality in the community of Durham, NC; Girls Rock Charleston’s on-going process of advancing racial and economic justice through internal political development in Charleston, SC; and GALEO, working with Latino communities in Georgia to promote leadership development and civic engagement.

It takes a supportive community to provide the resources and the power to make change happen, and you are at the core of our community.  Please – be there for our grantees.  The Fund relies on the generosity of people like you to continue our grant-making and technical assistance programs to community-based organizations working for social justice and serving human needs. We believe that community-based groups are the most effective in bringing about real, lasting change, and we are committed to helping them grow and become vibrant, sustainable organizations.

We know that none of the work of our grantee partners would be possible without partners like you, who care enough to make a difference.  We need your help today!!  Won’t you stand with us for equality and justice?  Please give, every dollar makes a difference. You may donate on-line at www.fundforsouth.org, mail in your contribution or contact the office for instructions to transfer stock. We assure you that your gift will be a cost-effective investment towards greater justice, equality and peace in our region and the world. Thank you for being part of this 35 year journey with us.
