Support Fund for Southern Communities!
Now in its fourth year, #GivingTuesday is a global day
of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.
Observed on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the
widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday,
#GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on
their holiday and end-of-year giving. Since its inaugural year in 2012,
#GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports
giving and philanthropy with events throughout the year and a growing
catalog of resources.

For nearly 35 years, through the support of friends, FSC
has provided a tangible way to give a “voice” to those working for the
common good. Experience has taught us that we all benefit when
communities come together to solve deeply rooted problems. During a
year marked by deep pain and grief, FSC has continued to support a
number of community organizations doing visionary work throughout our
region.
We find hope and encouragement for the future in the
remarkable proliferation of community organizations that remain devoted
to addressing critical social and economic problems with a range of
creative initiatives. Too often, however, smaller community-based
organizations find themselves struggling for scarce resources, when
they are passed over by donors who reserve their support for larger
organizations and institutions. We are proud to fill that void.
In 2015, FSC granted Durham C.A.N. a $5,000 award in support of its
poverty reduction campaign, which includes securing affordable housing,
living wages, job training and access to education for thousands of
local residents in the Triangle area. In addition through our giving
circles and donor advised funds, dozens of non-profit organizations
were funded this year in support of their social justice efforts across
the country. FSC is excited to finalize yet another cycle of grantees
this winter; we received a number of applications in September
requesting support for programs representing Georgia, North Carolina
and South Carolina.
We are proud to raise money from friends like you and
place it into the hands of those experiencing degrees of inequality and
other social injustices. We are certain that none of this work would be
possible without the support from you and other like-minded community
members. At this time and in support of #GivingTuesday, we ask you to
make an end-of-the year contribution to FSC. If you have made an annual
gift in the past, please strongly consider increasing your gift if
possible to ensure even more grassroots organizations can be supported
through our grant program. Please click here to make an
online donation today! Thank you so much for your support and have
a wonderful holiday season.
